• Display Calibration Tool •
This is a simple online tool which displays test patterns. Using a light meter measurements can be made from the test patterns. The measurements can then be used to establish the calibration of the display monitor.
The displayed images are reduced to 8-bit as the browser is only capable of 8-bit display. However, this is the same as most medical image viewing software including commercial PACS systems. Note that higher bit depth (e.g. 10-bit) medical monitors and graphics cards still provide an advantage even if this is the case because they allow the calibration to be performed more accurately and offer more Just Noticeable Differences (JNDs) to which the digital driving levels for a given p-value can be mapped.
Software displaying images with more than 8 simultaneous bits is likely to require even higher bit depth displays and graphics cards to allow accurate calibration of the monitor
